You are here

Are you under 13?

At the SARC, we are here to help you and will support you whether the assault took place recently or in the past.

As a child under 13, the law says that you are not old enough to give your consent to any sexual activity therefore the matter would need to be reported to the police. Norfolk Police have special officers who are trained to help you, so you don't need to be afraid when speaking to them.

You may also need to be seen by a paediatrician. This is a doctor who has been specially trained in medicine to care for children. They will check to make sure that you are ok. This will take place at the SARC and you will be supported by one of our staff at all times who will be able to answer any questions you may have.

If you have been raped or sexually assaulted it can have an impact and affect your family as well. A parent may feel anxious, scared, angry, frustrated, sad and guilty. They may be worried about how it will affect you and if anything might change. We want to help your family as well, so that they, in turn, can support you during this difficult time.

So that we can start helping you, you can speak to us on 01603 276381.
